-- People who park too close to the corner, so I can't see traffic coming. I inch out, slowly, s-l-o-w-l-y, until I think it's good, then hold my breath and gun it. Please, people, if there's not enough room for the length of a tire in that tiny space, there is not enough room for your CAR.
-- People who open their car doors into traffic without a glance at what's coming up the street. I have dreams of plowing into the door, like Tom Cruise driving down a city street in Knight & Day, and the door flips up, then drops down and conks them in the head, and.... oh, wait, sorry, got carried away. Again, people, if the street has barely enough room for you to parallel park without causing a four-car pile-up, there is not enough room for you to open your door wide.
-- And speaking of parallel parking.... Does the DMV actually require this on their test anymore? Because there is a plethora of drivers who simply should not try this task. Ever.
What car parking habit bugs you?
Just a quick note on parallel parking. I tried that for hours at a time assuming that was part of the driving test. It never came up....I just had to back the car up in between two cones....voila! Here's your license.
ReplyDeleteSo....I think parking annoyances are relative to what areas you park in. For me....I don't tend to park in the street here. (One reason why I suck at parallel parking.....I don't do it and if I have to.....I avoid parking there. LOL).
Back to other annoyance. People who take up two space and park diagonally in a shopping mall area. OK....I understand that you think you have a nice car and don't want anyone to ding the doors. However, I know from several people that parking like that is EXACTLY the thing that makes people go out of their way to key cars etc.
Then there are people who use a handicap sticker to park their car and they are not handicapped. How do I know that they are not handicapped? Because one co-worker of mine drives his moms car and uses her sticker to park. His rational.....I have a sticker therefore I can park in those spots. Hmmm.....there seems to be some big assumption when you have the sticker....RIGHT....YOU ARE HANDICAPPED AND NEED IT! I told him it is the same thing as parking in a handicap space without the sticker....he shouldn't do it.
Then there are the morons who park their large car in the compact spots and you have an inch or less between cars to squeeze in to open your door.
On a simliar note.....there are people who don't know how to park in between the white lines and you are either forced to park correctly (and risk getting dinged doors) OR park relative to said moron....taking the risk that the moron will leave before you get back to your car.....and NOW you look like the moron who can't park.
OK....I got all the "Andy Rooney" out of me for the moment.
